These demos will give you an overview of how DSMETER operates.

Introduction to DSMETER

See an overview of DSMETER. View the main screens used to perform network security audit and control and an example of a custom report created from multiple profiles.

  View   Running time: 4:48 minutes

Installing DSMETER

View the five steps of installing DSMETER:
  • extending the schema
  • selecting the DSMETER container
  • installing a token/license file
  • defining global parameters
  • pushing DSMETER NLMs
After installing DSMETER, profiles will need to be created and defined to begin collecting the data you want to track.

  View   Running time: 3:56 minutes

Blocking MP3 Files (or any other type of file)

See how to create a File Activity Tracking Profile that blocks MP3 files. You can track and/or block other files by extension, including AVI, EXE, HTML, and MPG files.

  View   Running time: 2:46 minutes

Defining a Login/Logout Tracking Profile

  View   Running time: 2:20 minutes

Defining a File Activity Tracking Profile

Discover three ways to use File Activity Tracking profiles: tracking and blocking files by extension, tracking all file activity in a directory, and monitoring a single file and alerting selected users when monitored activity occurs.

  View   Running time: 5:49 minutes

Defining a Security Tracking Profile

Learn how to track security in an eDirectory/NDS Tree. You can specify the container branch, track various changes in eDirectory/NDS (including object creates and deletes, NDS privilege changes, when accounts are intruder-locked or disabled/enabled, and changes to attributes you specify), and track changes to File System rights.

  View   Running time: 3:32 minutes

Defining a Security Granularity Profile

Control privileges granted in NetWare using DSMETER. You can refine eDirectory/NDS object create and delete privileges for users, groups, and organizational roles. You can limit which object classes they create or delete as well as what containers they can create or delete in.

  View   Running time: 3:59 minutes

Scanning for Hidden Objects

Set up scans for hidden objects in your network. You can unhide hidden objects, disable hidden user accounts, alert a list of specified users if a hidden object is found, and schedule regular scans.

  View   Running time: 2:27 minutes

Tracking Login Attempts

Record failed eDirectory/NDS login attempts due to a bad password, failed eDirectory/NDS login account lookups due to a bad login name, and track all bindery login attempts.

  View   Running time: 1:37 minutes

Performing an Inventory of File Servers

Use DSMETER to perform an inventory of file servers in your network.

  View   Running time: 1:44 minutes

Running a Quick Report

Run a Quick Report showing only the first 2,000 records collected by a profile. The Quick Report feature of DSMETER is most useful during the evaluation period.

  View   Running time: 2:07 minutes

Creating Custom Reports

Get detailed reports from your profiles by creating custom reports using DSMETER and its Report Designer. You can filter profile data by editing rules for reports, such as showing only data for a specific time frame or specific user. You can specify to save report data as a CSV file to open in a spreadsheet program or a TXT file to open in a word processing application.  The report can also be saved as an EXE file to run regular reports with scheduling software.
